EU Commission Brief
The European Health Insurance Card (EHIC) is a valuable part of EU membership. Not carrying one when travelling can mean calls back to a specialist NHS team during office hours, inconvenient if you are unwell.
The Commission requested a video to increase awareness amongst citizens of all ages but with a particular age group in mind. People aged 18 to 30 are less likely to have obtained a card before they travel.
The video would be translated into every EU language and need to appeal across cultures. Also to different ages, even with the younger focus.
Animated video is a great solution to most of those needs and a pinboard background is a familiar information provider to all age groups. An approach incorporating both aspects soon agreed by everyone involved.
Our client provided a well thought out script, time to turn this into a visual message their audience would keep in mind.
Whilst relatively brief, the production would use a range of formats available to video. Including hand drawn animation, animated images and video in video.
A storyboard had been created from the script, to assist with client liason and guide our producers. A preliminary voiceover recorded in our sound studio helped to add cohesion.
The video production process in this case consisted of gradually working each part of the storyboard up to the finished article. Different disciplines within our team sharing creative tasks.
With the animated video complete, a suitable sound track was added. To fit with the rhythm of the video, whilst not intruding on the voiceover.
As should be the case, this video feels to be easy viewing. A key factor is to perfect timing of all elements, which we naturally did.
The initial voiceover was replaced with a professional version and all sound components balanced. Translating the commentary and graphics into every EU language a final step, before delivering the video in formats to suit our client.
We understand viewers across nations appreciated the video and are pleased to help ensure they can access health care when needed.
