As part of a wide ranging, 2016 group marketing initiative, Aggreko commissioned a series of animated video case studies.
Core aspects of their work are bringing stable temperature control and supplying off grid power to remote locations. You can’t really get more ‘remote’ than an ocean borne aquatic farm, a perfect example.
Filming on location would have been prohibitively expensive. In any event, all involved were agreed that a voiceover led, animated video offered a good solution.
A specific look, feel and tone for Aggreko animation had been agreed in late 2016, as part of their rebrand. The new colour palette and style were an ideal fit for the topic.
In conjunction with Aggreko, we created a timed script. This provided the basis for a storyboard and voiceover guide track, recorded at our in house studio.
The still images were agreed and animated using After Effects. Just a couple of rounds of amends alongside our client, to finalise the stills and a good blend of 2D plus 3D.
Flow and balance matter to animated video, a final check worthwhile, along with perfection of eye catching elements in the video footer.
A professional recording of the voiceover track completed the production. Ready to be delivered in all formats, time taken one month.
The animated video was a complete success. In particular the ‘match cuts’ e.g. the fish eye to The World and the ‘splash’ effect (where three droplets ‘splash’ as an interstitial) injected style and a dash of humour.
The video was uploaded to the new Aggreko website in Q2 of 2017. Also disseminated to their PR, brand and SEO agencies, Grayling, Rufus Leonard and Query Click. Suitable formats then stored on Aggreko’s digital hub, for marketing staff in other regions to access and use.
