Electra are an established private equity company, who use video to show their approach to investment and to building business.
Following the buyout of one audio mixing console supplier, they had acquired two complimentary companies and combined them into a growing group. A success story to tell.
Successful investment is often about people and the decision was taken to use talking heads video, focused on key players.
The partner responsible at Electra and the MD of the new group, who would blend well to narrate the story in a quietly pitched, yet captivating way.
Corporate interviews mean time from busy targets and we have to be sensitive to their timescales. We worked with staff at both companies to organise a schedule, along with developing ideas for content.
Our preferred set up of two cameras was used for interviews, one on a tripod and one on a slider. Cutting between cameras ensures we can interview quickly, without endless pickups during the shoot.
To maintain continuity, one producer acted as interviewer, or prompter at all sessions. Being aware of the focus and of what had been said in the other interview helped ensure insightful comments.
We also arranged to shoot background footage of testing, R &D and assembly facilities. Interesting products involved, which would help tell the story.
Corporate video interviews are about letting people feel free to speak. Our editors task is to make sure their message is the focus, to ensure continuity of narration for the viewers.
The message for viewers was then subtly enhanced, using unobtrusive shots of venues and the company’s products.
Motion graphics, a form of animated video, were introduced in sync with the pace, alongside a suitable music track. None of those elements too dominant, there to help create a cohesive flow.
The project was well received, not least on the web. Our talking heads video showing how two companies are moving forward together, a good business story.
